Milk Education is looking for a dedicated and passionate1:1 SEN Teaching Assistantto join one of our partner schools in Calderdale. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
About the Role:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex learning, behavioural, and communication needs. You will work closely with the class teacher to tailor a student’s educational experience, ensuring it is engaging, supportive, and inclusive. This includes:
* Supporting students in developing communication and independence skills
* Assisting in delivering engaging, structured lessons and activities
* Helping create an adaptive, inclusive learning environment
* Supporting the class teacher with resource preparation and interventions
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support for students with high-level Special Educational Needs
* Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Support individualised learning plans tailored to specific sensory, behavioural, and medical needs
* Use initiative and be proactive in adapting the learning environment
* Prepare resources and contribute to intervention sessions
* Ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all pupils
* Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and wider support teams
Candidate Requirements:
* Experience working with SEN students in a school or similar setting
* A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
* Ability to follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures
* Team player who works well under guidance and independently
* Excellent organisational and IT skills
* Resilient, patient, and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
