Project Mechanical Technician
Mammoet Offshore Services specialise in loadout and installation of large and heavy structures in marine and offshore environments.
The role is to work as part of a team and support the safe and successful setup and execution of multidisciplinary projects involving ballasting systems, winches, hydraulic jacking, skidding, and lifting equipment across the UK and overseas.
Applicants usually come from a mechanical, hydraulic or electrical background and may have marine or industrial experience. Previous offshore experience is beneficial but not strictly required.
Responsibilities
* Unpacking, setup, installation, operation and maintenance of Mammoet Offshore Services equipment (strand jacks, diesel‑driven hydraulic power units, ballast pumps, winches, hydraulic jacks and weighing equipment) at project sites.
* Rigging and general lifting of equipment.
* Support packing and unpacking of containers in accordance with detailed packing lists.
* Complete post‑operation equipment maintenance checks.
* Prepare and pack equipment in the Middlesbrough yard for mobilisation to projects.
* Travel to a wide range of project sites worldwide, both onshore and offshore.
* Report directly to the Foreman and Supervisor on site and the personnel planner in the office.
* Read, understand and adhere to site‑specific method statements, risk assessments, ITPs and engineering drawings.
* Fill out project documentation: equipment pre‑use check sheets, maintenance records, daily site reports.
* Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with legal, company and client safety regulations, risk assessments and method statements.
* Promote safe working principles, good practices, correct PPE, good housekeeping and report safety observations, near misses and incidents.
* Participate in Mammoet’s in‑house training scheme and relevant third‑party courses.
Essential Qualifications
* Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, marine or industrial background.
* Willing and capable to learn operation and maintenance of Mammoet’s specialist equipment.
* Willing to travel and work within and outside the UK for extensive periods, including some offshore work.
* Current valid driving licence.
* Current valid passport without restrictions.
Desirable Qualifications
* Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulic/City & Guilds, ONC, NVQ L3 or similar qualifications.
* Experience with hydraulic systems and PLC‑controlled equipment in a similar role.
* Experience in hydraulic and mechanical maintenance and hydraulic system operation.
* Problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills, ability to invent and propose new methods or modifications.
* Current offshore medical and survival certificate and OPITO MIST.
* Industry‑related general certificates such as CPCS Slinger‑Signaller, Lift Supervisor, Forklift Truck, Telehandler, CCNSG Safety Passport, Abrasive Wheels, IPAF, Working at Height.
