The Adult LearningDisability (ALD) directorate in North Yorkshire and York locality of TEWV iscomprised of four community teams based in York, Scarborough, Knaresborough andNorthallerton. The service is also in the process of developing a Community IntensiveSupport Team (IST) based in York but covering the whole North Yorkshire, Yorkand Selby geography.
This post will provideinput into the Scarborough, Whitby Ryedale area with a base inScarborough. Specifically, this serviceis commissioned by the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership .
Referrals are received ineach locality; each team operates a local duty system and triages their ownreferrals providing advice and support to referrers. We work with a range of system partnersincluding colleagues from Primary Care, Local Authority and a number ofdifferent Voluntary Sector partners. This is a well-established post which has arisen dueto the internal transfer of the current Consultant Psychiatrist covering the post.
Main duties of the job
The post is based within theAdult learning disability community teambased at Systems House, Clifton MoorYork ,with easy access to all areas covered by the team. This post covers North York, Easingwold and Pocklington area. Theteam are highly regarded by local statutory and third sector partners with agood history of collaborative working. It is estimated thatthe total population in York is 208 079 (2019). There is also a notable agedpopulation in York along with families of different nuclear status
The consultant holds clinicsand makes home visits throughout the area.There is a good relationship with local adult mental health services.
This a community-based post. Patients requiring inpatient treatment whereappropriate are admitted under Greenlight arrangements to Adult Mental Health ward. They can also haveaccess to Learning disability Assessment and Treatment beds at Bank fieldsCourt, Middlesbrough, which is part of TEWV services. RC responsibilities aremanaged by the inpatient Consultants.
