An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Tuberculosis (TB) Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dedicated TB service based at Frimley Park Hospital. This is a full-time, permanent position within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
Responsibilities
* Care for patients with suspected or diagnosed TB, supported by the TB team.
* Take responsibility for managing TB contact screening and migrant screening for both adults and children (perform Mantoux, QuantiFERON blood test, CXR) and BCG vaccination.
* Monitor active and latent TB treatment for both adults and children.
* Make differential diagnoses within the level of competence, supported by the TB team.
* Plan and provide treatment in collaboration with others as appropriate, including monitoring of treatment and Directly Observed Therapy regimens.
* Work independently, but also as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Use knowledge and clinical judgement to decide whether to refer patients for investigations, such as a chest X-ray.
* Coordinate outreach activities and liaise with the lead TB Consultant, Public Health teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective care pathways.
Requirements
* Registered nurse with relevant qualifications and experience in TB care (Band 6 level).
* Excellent communication, organisational and clinical skills; compassionate and patient-centred approach.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team; proactive and committed to improving patient outcomes.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential due to community visits and outreach clinics.
