The Westmorland Kitchen, based at Rheged in Penrith, is responsible for making about 500,000 pies and sausage rolls annually, that are distributed to all of our Westmorland sites including Tebay, Gloucester and Cairn Lodge Services. We are also responsible for making around 4 tonnes of lasagna, cottage pie, white sauce and tagine coupled with making over 2,000 litres of soup each week so as you can imagine we operate a very efficient and fast paced production unit.
None of this could be possible without the Westmorland Kitchen logistics team who are responsible for seeing stock in and out, stock checking, ordering and distributing all of these goods to our sites. This role will be part of the logistics team and will be responsible for arranging delivery of orders around Rheged as well as putting together large orders to be delivered to each site ready for sale. The high production levels can add up to over 10 tonnes of goods coming in which all need to be sorted and organised by hand.
Attention to detail and working efficiently are key attributes to ensure stock is processed and accounted for. Each delivery must be unpacked, processed and uploaded onto the stock file accurately ensuring food safety regulations are followed and correct stock levels are maintained.
Supporting our production teams, you will work to ensure that stock is available at the right times, that the stores are organised effectively, deliveries are processed correctly and any stock or stores issues are escalated to your manager for resolution.
At quieter times, you will be required to work in the production areas of the business as directed by your manager.
Our stock control system is fully computerised, so computer literacy is preferred but not essential, as full training will be given, a background in stores and stock control would also be preferable.
Hours will predominantly be 0630 to 1500, Monday to Friday, however a small degree of flexibility will be needed as occasionally deliveries can be unpredictable due to traffic.
