Senior Business Analyst (Contract) – Inside IR35

Overview:
The role of a Senior Business Analyst within a UK Government agency demands a high level of expertise in requirements definition and stakeholder alignment.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for comprehensively understanding the objectives of your workstream and product. Acting as the bridge between stakeholders, developers, and user‑centered design teams, you will ensure alignment and clarity across all parties to deliver successful outcomes.
This role requires strong experience working in complex delivery environments and supporting multidisciplinary digital teams, with a focus on analysing business needs, evaluating current processes, and defining requirements that drive service improvements.
You will lead business analysis activity within the team and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver changes into live Working Age Services.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead business analysis activities within complex projects or delivery environments
* Build strong stakeholder relationships across business, technical, and policy teams
* Facilitate workshops and discussions to understand problems and gather requirements
* Analyse business processes and identify opportunities for improvement
* Define user needs and manage business requirements
* Create user stories and acceptance criteria to support development work
* Work closely with developers, designers, and delivery colleagues to ensure requirements are clear and deliverable
* Support prioritisation of work and help identify gaps in functionality or service design
* Contribute to best practice within the Business Analysis community and support other Business Analysts where required
Key Skills & Experience
* Strong experience as a Senior Business Analyst in complex, large‑scale delivery environments
* Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary digital teams
* Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex business problems into clear, deliverable requirements
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business, technical, and policy teams
* Experience in requirements gathering, process analysis, and service improvement
* Hands‑on experience creating user stories and acceptance criteria
* Experience working within government or public sector programmes, particularly Universal Credit or Working Age Services
* Familiarity with Agile delivery environments and digital service standards
* Experience supporting multiple parallel workstreams within a single delivery team
