We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Leader - Renal, Home Haemodialysis who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
As an integral part of the renal team, you will take on the role of Nurse Team Leader, with a focus on home haemodialysis training. You will provide care to patients with End-Stage Renal Failure (ESRF) who require renal replacement therapy and are interested in the home haemodialysis option.
This is a great opportunity to collaborate with other staff within the renal service to provide a streamlined, efficient, and effective service. You will have the opportunity to promote expert nursing care and deliver consistently high standards of healthcare to all home haemodialysis patients.
We are eager to increase the number of patients actively involved in their care, whether through Shared Care or Independent home haemodialysis. Our goal is to promote home dialysis as part of the renal unit’s strategy to deliver a service that encourages, engages, and successfully achieves self-care for 20% of patients on renal replacement therapy (RRT).

Main duties of the job
The post holder will deputise for the Senior Sister and/or Charge Nurse in their absence with regard to the operational management of clinical service delivery at unit level.
You will provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff.
The successful candidate will contribute to the learning and development culture within the renal department, providing learning opportunities and assessment for staff.
You will also assess dialysis patients with their health and wellbeing needs, implementing care programmes accordingly. This includes interpreting the information available to identify the short and long term needs and risks.

Qualifications / Training
Essential criteria
* First level nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register, educated to diploma level
* Relevant clinical post-registration education to include a recognized renal course and mentorship qualification
* Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to life-long learning
* Evidence of leadership training/development
Desirable criteria
* Relevant health care related degree
* Health coaching
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
* Significant experience in caring for patients requiring renal nursing, demonstrating a special interest in home haemodialysis and sharing care practices
* Ability to act on own initiative with evidence of sound decision making abilities.
Desirable criteria
* Involvement in audit/research and willingness to present findings at meetings and conferences.
* Knowledge in quality assurance of patient dialysis treatment
* Community care experience
Skills
Essential criteria
* Ability to communicate effectively – excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Evidence of leadership and motivational skills, ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Demonstrate a flexible approach, able to react to the changing needs of the department.
* Ability to use negotiating skills in a positive manner to influence change within the department.
* Ability to liaise and work with the multidisciplinary team, making recommendations to enhance the smooth running and management of the unit.
* Able to demonstrate an active role in teaching

Knowledge

* Knowledge of current Trust wide and development of Health initiatives including the Trusts LEND and Trust pledges
* Awareness of current developments in pre and post registration nursing
* Understanding of risk management, health and safety and other clinical governance issues
* Knowledge of local and national health care initiatives/innovation to improve patient care, experience and safety.
