We're recruiting a dedicated and reliable Sous Chef to join the team at White Oaks, supporting St Christopher Hospice. This role is ideal for a chef who takes pride in consistency, quality, and delivering comforting food within a caring, purpose-led environment.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, with structured shifts and a strong focus on work-life balance.
The role
As Chef, you'll be responsible for preparing high-quality meals in line with set menus and approved recipes, ensuring every dish is delivered to a consistent standard and with care. You'll work as part of a supportive team where processes are clear and expectations are well defined.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and serving high-quality food in line with agreed menus and recipes
Delivering consistent standards across all meals and services
Supporting smooth day-to-day kitchen operations
Monitoring stock levels and maintaining good kitchen organisation
Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
Ensuring full compliance with Food Handling, Hygiene, Health & Safety regulations
Working collaboratively with the wider team in a calm and respectful environment
What we're looking for A passion for good food, consistency, and customer care
Experience in a similar Sous Chef role
Experience supporting or supervising a kitchen team
City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ equivalent, or relevant qualifications
Food Hygiene Certificate
A flexible, dependable, and team-focused approach
