Please note in regards to location this role will be based at Catherine Booth House and travel may be required across Portsmouth Working hours: 40 hours per week Interview Date: Week commencing 7th July 2025 Portsmouth Homeless Family Service is based across three residential Lifehouses, accommodating a total of 45 homeless, vulnerable families (which include couples, single parents and pregnant mothers) with support needs. We also support 32 families living in Local Authority Sub-let tenancies and a further 14 families living in other housing. We are looking for a full time Handy Person; an exciting opportunity to work at Catherine Booth House in Southsea and with our Sub-Let properties around the city. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, organised and positive with the ability to work on their own initiative as well as in a team. As Handy Person you will work with our staff, residents and support team. The role involves planned maintenance & emergency repairs, compliance monitoring & inspections and day-to-day housing management tasks to ensure the service operates safely and successfully. Key Responsibilities: The role of Handy Person involves using your good DIY skills and maintaining the accommodation. It involves general maintenance, day-to-day and emergency repairs, decorating, gardening, Health and Safety monitoring, and dealing with contractors. Plumbing or electrical experience/qualifications would be advantageous. The ability to work in a flexible, professional and confidential way is essential. A full driving licence and access to a car is preferable.
