Support Worker for Young People with Emotional, Behavioural, and Social Difficulties

About the Role
An alternative provision for children aged 8 to 16 in Headington, Oxford, is seeking a Youth Worker to support the social skills, emotional wellbeing, and mental health of students. The school provides tailored education for children with social & emotional difficulties such as anxiety, school refusal due to developmental trauma, adverse childhood experiences, and specific learning difficulties like dyslexia and dyscalculia.
The Youth Worker will build relationships with these young people and support them to make positive life choices through de-escalation, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices. You will work alongside psychologists and therapists, shadowing them to gain experience in mental health support.
Responsibilities
1. Support children feeling confused, with low self-esteem, and disengaged from schooling.
2. Provide education tailored to individual needs, empowering students to understand their strengths and progress.
3. Support social, emotional, and mental health development.
Candidate Requirements
* Degree in a related field or experience working with young people.
* Resilience and an open mind to support children who have experienced trauma.
