Paediatric Dietitian - Complications of Excess Weight (CEW)

Join to apply for the Paediatric Dietitian - Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) role at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) has developed a CEW multidisciplinary team with national funding to treat complications related to excess weight in children and young people. RMCH is a tertiary Children’s Hospital providing services across most pediatric specialties.

The postholder will be part of our RMCH paediatric dietetic service, a large team of 38 dietitians and 5 assistants.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our Manchester CEW team and work within an established multidisciplinary team, including endocrine consultants, specialist nurses, physicians, clinical psychologists, a specialist physiotherapist, youth worker, and a 1.00 WTE specialist dietitian.

The ideal candidates for Band 7 will have significant postgraduate clinical experience in paediatric dietetics and weight management, with post-registration training. Current Band 6 practitioners with experience working with children in diabetes and weight management, along with leadership skills, are encouraged to apply. The role may initially be a Band 6 to 7 training post, with support for development and upgrade to Band 7 upon meeting leadership and management competencies.

The caseload includes dietetic-led and multidisciplinary outpatient clinics, group sessions, and inpatient management, requiring advanced clinical dietetic expertise and MDT collaboration.

Strong leadership, motivation, and communication skills are essential to optimize outcomes and liaise effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals, schools, social care, and community teams.

There are numerous teaching opportunities, including patient and carer education sessions, formal lectures, and research presentations.

The postholder will have opportunities to participate in quality initiatives, research, and audits, and will be responsible for reporting outcomes and service evaluations, including patient and child voice and experience.

MFT is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England, with a turnover of £2.8bn, offering extensive opportunities across a wide scale of services, innovation, and research. The Trust is committed to sustainability and fostering an inclusive, equitable environment for staff development.
