Job Title: Waste Site Supervisor
Location: Countywide – North West (Lount / Coalville / Shepshed) and flexible across the County
Contract Type: Temporary – 3 months initially (with strong potential for extension)
Pay Rate: £15 per hour PAYE inc Holiday (37 hours per week) | £19.14 per hour Umbrella Ltd. Mileage and expenses claimable in line with client policy (excluding commuting).
About the Role
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Waste Site Supervisor on behalf of a County Council. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced supervisors to play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations and management of Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS) and Waste Transfer Stations (WTS).
The role is hands-on and field-based, requiring flexibility to travel across multiple sites within the county.
Key Responsibilities
As a Waste Site Supervisor, you will:
Oversee daily operations across RHWS and WTS sites, ensuring compliance with council policies and procedures.
Carry out supervisory HR duties, including onboarding support, one-to-ones, return-to-work meetings, and low-level policy discussions.
Deliver training through workbooks, e-learning support, toolbox talks, and site-based safety briefings.
Monitor and enforce safe systems of work, risk assessments, and the council’s Quality Management System.
Maintain accurate records of waste movements and ensure processes meet required standards.
Issue and monitor PPE and uniforms, including the use of Body Worn Cameras (as required).
Handle low-level customer complaints professionally, both face-to-face and via telephone/email.
Occasionally drive a 3.5 tonne box van to support site operations.
Working Pattern
37 to 40 hours per week (full-time)
Working pattern to be agreed with line manager
Flexibility required to work across 7 days, including alternate weekends
What we are Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in line managing multiple staff
Strong IT, literacy, and numeracy skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Previous experience dealing with customers in a frontline role
Experience delivering training packages and safety briefings
Full UK Driving Licence (up to 3.5 tonnes), own transport, and appropriate business insuranceDesirable:
Valid Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC)
Experience driving vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes
