Overview
Do you have the commitment and positive values to make a difference to the lives of people living in a supported living service and Day Services in Horsforth, Leeds? We are looking for a calm, resourceful and enthusiastic Senior Support Worker to join our friendly team. You will provide person‑centred care and support to tenants, enabling them to take part in all aspects of everyday life and enjoy a wide range of activities.
Key Responsibilities
You will have skills in positive communication and engagement and will demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the people we support. You will work within a positive behaviour support framework, accept responsibility, and grow in confidence as a skilled practitioner. You will follow agreed guidelines and work positively within a consistent and mutually supportive team.
The service is characterized by high user and family involvement, and you may take on a key role as a Key Worker/Co‑Key Worker, planning alongside the person’s wider support network to help them achieve their wishes and aspirations.
Expectations include active engagement in personal care, domestic tasks, social engagement and community activities such as walking, swimming and gym visits. You must support people with a wide range of presenting needs and assist the management team to lead and supervise a team of Support Workers, implementing individualized support for consistency and effective communication.
Requirements
Prior experience supporting adults with learning disabilities is essential. A relevant qualification such as the NVQ Diploma in Health and Social Care level 2 or 3 (or willingness to work towards it) is required.
