MEICA Estimator – Water Sector
Location: Watford
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 basic + car or allowance + bonus + full benefits package
We are supporting a leading Water infrastructure contractor in their search for an experienced MEICA Estimator to support the development and delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects across Southern England.
This is a key role where you will lead the estimating process for MEICA works, contribute to project planning and methodology, and provide commercial support through the enabling phase. You’ll work closely with the Contracts Manager, Project Engineers and Commercial team to ensure tenders are accurate, competitive, and aligned with the company’s wider business plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and submit detailed MEICA estimates and tender documents for water sector projects.
Engage in project scope development, from early design through to contract award.
Influence project methodology, programme, and safety strategy in the bid phase.
Work collaboratively with engineering and commercial teams to meet client expectations.
Price works using a bottom-up approach based on scope, drawings, and technical information.
Prepare budgets and cost plans in line with client specifications.
Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and compliant submissions.
Support the Contracts Manager during the early stages of project mobilisation.
Analyse actual delivery data to improve future tender accuracy and efficiency.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience estimating MEICA works in water or wastewater treatment projects.
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems.
Practical knowledge of industry-standard equipment, plant and supply chain.
Able to interpret technical drawings and develop full cost breakdowns.
Familiarity with WIMES standards and NEC contract frameworks.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Competent in estimating software (e.g. Candy) and Microsoft Office.
Ability to manage technical and commercial risk throughout the tender process.
Qualifications:
HNC, HND, or foundation degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
SMSTS/SSSTS, CSCS, First Aid, EUSR Water Hygiene (desirable but not essential).
Estimating or proposals experience from either a mechanical or electrical background.
