Join to apply for the One Stop - Shift Leader role at One Stop Stores Ltd. We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. You will be working in a fast paced retail environment where no day is the same, taking ownership of store activities by running duty shifts and coordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. The customer is at the heart of everything we do, so you will continuously look for ways to improve service through on-the-job coaching and feedback. You will have a strong understanding of store performance and deliver practical actions for improvement through a hands-on approach. With your guidance, the store will remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
* Open/close the store and complete duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety
* Act as the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries
* Support the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a welcoming atmosphere
* Keep the store clean, tidy, and well presented
* Prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers
* Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect what good looks like
* Take immediate action for any overcharges and prevent recurrence
* Proactively manage queues in store to deliver a great shopping trip
* Coordinate colleagues to meet daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns
* Deliver practical actions to improve store performance and collaborate with colleagues to implement them
* Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
* Deliver clear communication to the team and keep everyone informed
* Simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
* Put the customer first in all actions and resolve customer queries promptly
* Recognise and celebrate colleagues providing great service
* Identify and remove obstacles that hinder great service
* Resolve colleagues’ queries in the Store Manager’s absence or escalate appropriately
* Ensure adequate staffing and arrange cover for short-term absences/sickness
* Be a recognised Keyholder and respond to alarm calls to maintain safety and security
* Monitor internal communications and keep colleagues informed
* Coordinate to meet customer needs and provide feedback to the Store Manager on any issues
* Balance time across service and replenishment areas
* Support the Store Manager in managing absence and conducting return-to-work interviews for CSA colleagues, reporting absence triggers as required
* Build relationships with Area Manager and People Partner to escalate issues and receive coaching
* If the store has a Post Office Local, duties include day-to-day Post Office operations and the role may require passing a financial and criminal conviction background check; failure to pass may withdraw the job offer
