Overview
The University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Database Administrator (DBA) specialising in database administration of MySQL, with the ability to provide operational support on a range of database platforms in a large and complex IT infrastructure. You will play a key role in contributing towards the on-going support, maintenance, design, development and management of our core IT services as well as contributing to our IT modernisation programme.
Responsibilities
* Provide operational support for MySQL and other database platforms in a Linux environment.
* Support, maintain, design, develop and manage core IT services.
* Contribute to the IT modernisation programme.
* Work on routine service requests and issue/incident resolution within a structured IT Service Delivery Framework (e.g., ITIL).
* Maintain broad understanding of platforms, products, services and technologies, with demonstrable recent experience in current versions.
Qualifications
* Strong technical background in database administration.
* Familiarity with MySQL or other databases, preferably in a Linux environment.
* Experience or keen interest in DBA role, with willingness to learn and receive training.
* Broad understanding of relevant infrastructure technologies and their support, maintenance and configuration.
* Strong analytical problem‑solving skills and great attention to detail.
* Good communication and documentation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and within an IT Service Delivery Framework (ITIL).
Working Hours and Conditions
This position is offered on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours per week); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part time (minimum 29 hours per week).
