Main duties of the job
The Deputy Associate Director of Nursing is a key member of the divisional and hospital senior nursing team with specific responsibility for ensuring the delivery of safe & compassionate care within the division and specifically within Emergency and Pre-Hospital Care, Acute Medicine and Older People Services. This will include risk management, ensuring professional standards, leadership, appropriate planning implementations, monitoring and review mechanisms are in place which develop high quality patient driven services within the available resources.
In addition, the post holder will take a lead nursing role within the hospital for a specific strategic work stream.
The Deputy Associate Director of Nursing will work with the divisional and directorate triumvirates to provide strategic leadership, ensure that there are appropriate systems and processes within the Division to enable staff to deliver good quality clinical care and drive forward the service improvement agenda to achieve quality, safety and efficiency gains.
Specifically, the DADoN for the Division will:
* Formally deputise for the ADoN with day‑to‑day responsibility and accountability for the nursing and governance services delivered by the division
* With the Divisional Director, Divisional Director of Operations and ADoN performance manage the Directorate Teams
* Lead the Division on Risk Management
* Develop and implement plans to deliver the relevant Trust objectives as required

Experience (Essential)
* Experience working in a senior nursing role (8b or above)
* Experience of audit in evaluating and developing a service
* Change management experience
* Experience of managing a budget
* Experience of close multi‑professional working in an relevant inpatient environment
* Evidence of managerial responsibilities and operational experience in a relevant acute setting
* Ability to analyse complex problems and develop practical workable solutions

Qualifications and Knowledge (Essential)
* First‑level registered nurse
* Masters level education (MSc or equivalent) or willingness to commence MSc level degree
* Track record of achievement as a leader demonstrating significant successes through innovation and a strong but sensitive style contributing directly to patient experience and continuous improvement
* Demonstrate well‑developed negotiation skills coupled with ability to tackle poor performance effectively
* Advanced knowledge of clinical governance processes and standards
* Management/Leadership qualification
