An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Registered Professional to join the Mental Health Central Access Point based at Anstey Frith Building County Hall.
The Mental Health Central Access Point (MHCAP) aims to improve access to mental health services and provide mental health support and advice through the NHS 111 opt 2 line operated by recovery workers and telephone triage facilitated by Mental Health Practitioners. MHCAP operates a 24/7 mental health text service, overseen by clinicians.
The successful candidate will work closely with Team Leads within the other pathways of Urgent Care, including Crisis, The Hub, Place of Safety, Mental Health Liaison and Criminal Justice. The Team Leads provide overall clinical responsibility to MHCAP during the hours of 09:00 to 17:00, rotating Monday to Sunday. The role includes leadership, line management support for Mental Health Practitioners, and escalation of complex issues to the team manager and/or service matron.

Job Description Summary (Main Duties And Responsibilities)
* The duty team lead will provide advice and support for complex clinical presentations.
* Complete the daily SITREP (previous day’s 111, MHCAP, Emergency, Urgent and Routine Triages, Staffing escalation, General escalation on a standard proforma).
* Review outstanding triages to identify breaches, ensure triage completion, escalate via EIRF, and problem-solve to prevent future breaches.
* During peak activity or staffing shortages, team leads may carry out clinical triages or coordinate services.
* Monitor staffing levels, formulate the team roster, conduct investigations, contact patients to resolve issues, complete audits, monitor incidents, and lead meetings as required.
* Take an active role in recruitment and ensuring an effective induction with successful competency development.
* Work with Mental Health Central Access Point to develop skills across acute and urgent care pathways with primary and secondary care colleagues.
The role is dynamic and requires specialist risk assessment. The MHCAP is a professional and diverse team that offers extensive experience across the acute sector.
