An opportunity has arisen for an interesting and varied Administrative Assistant position within the Cellular Pathology Department at York Hospital.
The post holder will provide a range of administrative support. The successful candidate will have effective administrative and computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/Teams.
The successful candidate will be required to have good organisational skills. You will also need to have excellent communication skills as you will be required to liaise with a wide range of professionals and service users. You must be effective at prioritising workloads, with a proven ability to work independently, use your own initiative, and apply sound analytical thinking to support administrative processes.
The successful candidate will possess GCSE English Language, Grade 4 or above, or equivalent. Previous clerical/administrative experience is essential, preferably in a healthcare or customer-based setting.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who can work effectively using their own initiative, as well as being part of a team. They must be a proficient audio typist with the ability to transcribe complex digital dictation and provide daily administration service support within Cellular Pathology.
Main duties of the job
The role will include but not be limited to:
1. Timely printing, sorting and mailing of patient reports.
2. Scanning and filing of documents and request forms.
3. Audio typing of macroscopic and microscopic details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in an accurate and timely manner.
4. Dealing with telephone and email enquiries from users including clinicians and other staff in a clear and effective manner.
5. General office duties, such as photocopying, filing and dealing with internal/external post.
6. Producing documents as required utilising advanced word processing and keyboard skills.
7. Supporting the Cellular Pathology Medical Secretaries with general administrative tasks as required.
