About The Role
The Category Insights Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our wine portfolio, primarily within the UK’s leading grocery retailers. This role is focused on leveraging shopper, market, and category insights to identify opportunities, shape strategy, and partner with customers to deliver category growth.
The successful candidate will combine strong analytical skills with commercial acumen, influencing both internal stakeholders and external retailer partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct in-depth analysis of shopper behaviour, category trends, and retailer performance.
* Deliver actionable insights that inform commercial strategy and drive category growth.
* Build compelling category stories to support retailer engagement and joint business planning.
* Partner with sales teams to influence customer range reviews, pricing, promotions, and merchandising.
* Develop category dashboards and insight packs for internal and external use.
* Track performance (distribution, share, rate of sale, promotional ROI) and provide recommendations.
* Act as a trusted category advisor to retail partners, sharing best practice and thought leadership.
* Keep abreast of industry and shopper trends to future-proof category strategies.
Experience & Skills
* 3–5 years in category management, insights, or commercial analytics (FMCG / drinks ideal).
* Proficiency with market data tools (Nielsen, IRI, Kantar, Power BI, Vyper, etc.).
* Strong analytical and storytelling skills – able to simplify data into actionable insights.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
* Knowledge of UK grocery retail dynamics; wine knowledge (WSET or similar) a plus.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
* Self-starter with a proactive attitude and attention to detail.
Additional Information
* This role may require occasional travel to meet with national account partners and attend industry events.
* The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine and a strategic mindset to drive growth in the grocery channel.
