Payroll Team Leader – HR Service Centre Summerfield House Aberdeen
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Payroll Team Leader to lead a team in delivering accurate, timely payroll services. The role reports to the Operational Payroll Manager and is based at the HR Service Centre Summerfield House in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and support a team of payroll staff to deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
* Ensure payroll deadlines are met consistently, adapting priorities and resources as required.
* Monitor team performance and implement improvements to enhance service delivery.
* Handle complex payroll queries and sensitive issues, including resolving conflicts effectively.
* Contribute to the development of payroll processes, systems and ways of working.
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders across HR, Finance and operational services.
Qualifications
* People‑management experience and confidence in leading, motivating and developing a team.
* Ability to handle challenging conversations professionally and constructively.
* Strong organisational skills with a clear understanding of deadlines and flexibility to adapt when priorities shift.
* Experience identifying issues and implementing practical improvements.
* Knowledge of NHS payroll systems and processes is desirable but not essential if transferable skills are demonstrated.
Employment Details
* Hybrid role – a regular in‑office presence is required.
* If the post operates within the Aberdeen City Low Emission Zone, the successful candidate will be responsible for all associated costs.
