Neighbourhoods Project Officer (Street Care)
Salary: Scale 6 (£31,537 - £33,699) – 37 Hours, Full Time, Permanent. Based at Stopford House Edward Street Stockport SK1 3XE, on site around the Borough throughout the working day.
Your Role
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to work for Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and are seeking to recruit a Neighbourhoods Project Officer to join our Street Care Team.
Based within the Thriving Neighbourhoods Service, the successful applicant will be part of a team providing and maintaining safe, clean and sustainable neighbourhoods. The role will be involved in a wide range of work within the community, including working with partners and community groups to ensure public spaces are the very best they can be.
The post works with and supports colleagues within the council to ensure that our neighbourhoods are a safe and clean place for residents.

As a Neighbourhood Project Officer, you’ll work closely with residents, community groups, councillors and partners to plan and deliver projects that keep Stockport’s public spaces safe, clean and welcoming.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Ensuring the borough is a clean space for residents to live in and visitors to enjoy
* Working directly with communities and stakeholders to plan and deliver neighbourhood projects
* Supporting consultation, engagement and community events
* Identifying and managing funding to improve local public spaces
* Delivering landscape and infrastructure works within set budgets
* Helping resolve land, boundary and public realm issues
* Ensuring residents’ enquiries are handled professionally and clearly
About You
You enjoy working with people, are well organised, and care about public spaces.
You’ll bring:
* Experience working with community groups
* Experience in a land based or public realm setting
* Strong communication and record keeping skills
* Confidence managing multiple tasks and priorities
* A practical, positive approach to problem solving
