Overview
Tameside council's school crossing patrol team provide a valuable service to the local community by ensuring that children and adults can cross the road safely on their route to and from school. We are looking to recruit to the role of School Crossing Patrol Co-ordinator to manage the school crossing patrol team.
Responsibilities
* Recruit, train and supervise around 15 School Crossing Patrollers working across the borough. Lead on all human resource processes in accordance with the council's policies and procedures.
* Carry out site visits on a daily basis, working closely with individual School Crossing Patrollers, parents and the school community.
* Carry out Health and Safety Risk Assessments of crossing locations in accordance with required standards, analyse risk including accident data to determine and prioritise the allocation of resources to school locations.
* Perform office administration, including payment of invoices, management of the School Crossing Patrol team budget, and maintaining accurate records relating to the service.
* Be competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and able to be trained in a range of other IT packages to help identify road safety issues and implement solutions.
* Contribute to delivering the council\'s key priorities by proactively developing, promoting and delivering road safety and active travel initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
* Relevant supervisory experience; knowledge of risk assessments and/or site surveys preferred.
* A skilled problem solver who can work independently and has excellent customer care and communication skills.
* Flexible and enthusiastic with a passion for road safety and active travel.
* Full current driving licence; good written and verbal communication skills.
* Previous experience in a road safety environment and supervisory experience would be desirable but is not essential.
* The post is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English.
