Clinical Educator – Theatres
Position Overview: Band 6 Clinical Educator – Theatres within the peri-operative environment at NHS Tayside. Base at Ninewells Hospital with travel to Nnewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary. The post follows a reduction of the full-time working week to 36 hours with no change in pay.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and deliver education and staff development programmes in the theatre environment.
* Support excellence in clinical practice through teaching, mentorship and continuous professional development.
* Work collaboratively with clinical teams to identify learning needs and plan curriculum.
* Assess and evaluate teaching effectiveness and outcomes.
* Contribute to quality improvement and audit activities related to clinical education.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
* Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with post-registration professional practice and substantial theatre experience.
* Evidence of significant post-registration practice and key areas required for the role.
* Relevant experience as a Band 5 RN/ODP in peri‑operative environment.
* Postgraduate qualification in teaching (e.g., Education for Practice MSc Module) or equivalent theatre teaching experience.
* UK NMC recordable Lecturer/Practice Educator or Teacher qualification desirable.
* Progressing towards a Masters qualification is desirable.
* Demonstrated evidence of continuous professional development.
* Registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC register or equivalent HCPC ODP.
Working Hours: 37 hours per week.
