Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – Southampton, Hampshire Start Date: September 2025 or October 2025 | Contract Type: Full-Time Are you enthusiastic about helping students overcome barriers to learning and succeed in school? Do you have experience supporting young people with additional needs and behaviour challenges? GSL Education are delighted to offer a full-time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) role at a secondary school in Southampton, starting September 2025 or October 2025, depending on notice period. This position involves supporting the class teacher with behaviour management and delivering targeted interventions to help students access the curriculum and make progress. A permanent contract is available after a successful probation period, with opportunities to advance through pay grades as you gain experience. Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant: Support the class teacher in managing student behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment Deliver one-to-one or small group interventions tailored to students’ individual needs Assist students with learning difficulties, particularly those with EHCPs related to Autism and other needs Encourage student independence and confidence in completing tasks Monitor and report on student progress to teaching staff Collaborate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other professionals to adapt learning resources Help maintain records of interventions and behavioural observations Skills & Requirements for Learning Support Assistant (LSA): Previous experience supporting students with SEN, behaviour management, or learning difficulties is preferred CACHE Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare, or similar, is desirable but not essential.
