Job Purpose:
Responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the organization. This includes managing budgets, organizing schedules and routes, ensuring vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure drivers are aware of their duties.
The job holder will be partly responsible for optimizing the company fleet, including vehicles and routings for UK sites.
Main Responsibilities:
* Ensure the safe operation of all Transport activities on the current 3 sites, ensuring compliance with H&S legislation & safe systems of work.
* Full management of the fleet and transport operation.
* Ensure legal compliance with Traffic Commissioners Operating Licenses, and ensure all sites conform and pass Vehicle Operator Licensing Agency inspections.
* Work closely with production sites to optimize fleet utilization and the use of sub-contractors/agency staff as needed.
* Ensure adherence to all DVSA compliance standards and the company's own standards, including scheduling PMI, MOT, driver checks, and other compliance measures.
* Monitor defect reports, fuel usage, and mileage daily.
* Investigate all incidences and accidents, taking necessary actions.
* Maintain accurate compliance records and ensure successful completion of audits.
* Manage driver and transport team performance to ensure timely deliveries and collections, providing first-class service aligned with departmental KPIs.
* Assist in managing employee matters such as recruitment, training, appraisals, and resource planning.
* Utilize technology effectively to minimize transport costs.
* Manage transport routing efficiently.
* Collaborate with warehouse management to ensure goods are loaded correctly and safely.
Key requirements:
* Experience in a similar position.
* Good understanding of transport regulations, compliance, and fleet management.
* Proven experience in transport management, preferably within logistics or distribution in the food industry.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
* Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
* Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft applications and TMS.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Attention to deadlines and detail.
* Ability to manage conflicting priorities in an organized and methodical manner.
