The Senior Designer will create innovative, commercially viable girlswear collections aligned with market trends and client needs.
The Senior Designer will oversee the entire design process, from concept to finished product, collaborating closely with the design team and stakeholders to ensure high-quality, trend-responsive designs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Develop innovative and commercially viable ranges based on client specifications and market research.
2. Maintain a strong awareness of current fashion trends to inform design direction.
3. Communicate daily with suppliers and production teams in the Far East to ensure design and timeline alignment.
4. Work with Account Managers and buyers to understand customer needs and develop strong relationships.
5. Translate creative ideas into market-ready designs, ensuring artistic elements meet business goals.
6. Produce detailed design sheets and artwork with specifications for factories.
7. Present designs to customers and buyers, ensuring understanding and buy-in.
8. Travel to production locations as needed to foster relationships.
9. Conduct shopping trips domestically and internationally to research trends and sourcing samples.
10. Engage in trend prediction to keep designs innovative.
11. Build relationships with suppliers to explore new product development.
12. Mentor junior team members and participate in recruiting placement students.
Relevant & Technical Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
2. Strong creative flair, excellent sense of colour, and ability to conceptualize appealing designs.
3. Knowledge of textile production techniques for manufacturability.
4. Ability to analyze trends for product development.
5. Understanding of retail market dynamics and customer preferences.
6. Excellent communication skills for presentations and collaboration.
7. Proven project management skills under tight deadlines.
8. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, and Shima Apex.
9. Familiarity with the product development lifecycle, including sample development and fitting.
10. Ability to create detailed technical specifications and utilize digital tools for trend analysis and collaboration.
