An exciting opportunity has come available for an enthusiastic, motivated Specialist Biomedical Scientist in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections of Blood Sciences at University Hospitals Dorset. We are looking for a Biomedical Scientist who is professional, reliable, innovative and flexible to join our friendly and hardworking team. This department offers full training and future development opportunities for the right candidates to further develop their skills and ambition.

The Haematology & Blood Transfusion department is part of the Blood Sciences department of University Hospitals Dorset. The post is based at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital (in The Dorset Pathology Hub), but the successful candidate will be working at our laboratory in Poole Essential Services Laboratory, on rotation. The modern department offers a wide range of diagnostic testing facilities for Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals as well as local GP practices. The department is fully UKAS accredited and an IBMS accredited training laboratory.

The successful candidate will regularly rotate through all sections of the Haematology & Blood Transfusion department and will be required to participate in the 24/7 shift system.

Evidence of Continual Professional Development (CPD) will be expected to be demonstrated at interview. Candidates completing their Specialist Portfolio may be considered; however, they would start on band 5 if unable to satisfy the Specialist BMS criteria and will be promoted to a Specialist BMS upon completion of the Specialist portfolio.

About our team?
