We are seeking a qualified teacher with QTS and a strong commitment to SEND provision to join our excellent secondary school in Ilford as SENCO. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape high-quality provision, support vulnerable learners, and work closely with staff, families, and external agencies to make a real difference.
As SENCO, you will:
Lead and manage SEND provision across the school in line with the SEND Code of Practice
Identify, assess, and support students with a range of additional needs, ensuring appropriate provision and progress
Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), EHCPs, and support strategies
Work closely with teaching staff to promote inclusive, high-quality classroom practice
Line-manage support staff and contribute to their professional development
Liaise effectively with parents/carers, external professionals, and local authorities
Advise senior leaders on SEND strategy and contribute to whole-school improvement
We are looking for someone who:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Has the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or is willing to complete it
Has experience supporting students with a wide range of SEND at secondary level
Demonstrates strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills
Is committed to inclusive practice and high expectations for all learners
Works collaboratively and contributes positively to school culture
