The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

In this role you will be delivering training to enable learners to achieve the required level of knowledge, skills and behaviours required to effectively deploy as First Aiders sufficient to the role they are assigned.

Training delivery ranges from MOD 2 First Aid Skills (All Frontline facing Officers and Staff) to MOD 5 Enhanced Skills including Oxygen and Pain relief administration in multiple training environments utilising PowerPoint delivery and Scenario Based Training throughout.

You will support and manage learning and assessment activities to ensure the achievement of accredited packages e.g. College of Policing programmes FALP, produce lesson plans (as directed) which are to Force standard, reflect National Occupational standards and are regularly updated.

You will be required to respond to any problems being experienced by the individual learner and assist in identifying the cause and agreeing a suitable way forward, acting at all times in accordance with force policy.

You are expected to adhere to the Code of Ethics and behavioural standards at all times setting an example to new and existing officers and staff. You will be expected to address and supervise any behaviour that falls below the standard and challenge inappropriate behviours to ensure that Force standards are maintained.

Maintain professional competence and practice to be able to deliver several L&D topics using varied learning styles and to obtain technical subject matter knowledge where required to maintain training standards across the force.

Other duties as determined by the Team leader and expected of the pay grade.


Skills & Experience

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills together with the ability to facilitate the development of others and to influence and empower learners.

Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to facilitate workshops for individuals & teams.

The ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programmes.

Well-developed written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate records and reports.

Highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative under minimal supervision.

Is fully conversant with Microsoft Office products, with accurate keyboard skills.

The role requires the ability to competently and effectively demonstrate all the techniques delivered in the First Aid Lesson Plan (FALP College of Policing) especially the deliver of CPR and other techniques including the recovery position and spinal log roll (Instruction will be given).

The post holder is required to assist the department with the monitoring of kit and equipment that the team are responsible for ensuring it is fit for purpose and managed effectively.

Additional Requirements The job holder will be required to undertake weekend working (1 weekend in 4). Unsocial hours will be paid as applicable. CPD - To ensure their own CPD (continuous professional development) is kept up-to-date and recorded.

Travel – Individuals must be prepared to occasionally travel across Surrey & Sussex (which can be claimed)

The post holder must be willing to undertake specialist courses to meet the demands of the department and Force, as deemed appropriate by the department head.
