About the role
We are seeking a Senior Governance Lawyer to join the new Legal Team at West Northamptonshire Council. The role reports to the Corporate Legal area and supports the Governance function.
What will you be doing?
* Assist with Constitution queries.
* Provide support and advice under RIPA.
* Prepare report writing.
* Conduct legal research and brief Counsel.
* Give legal advice in relation to member/officer conduct.
* Draft legal commentaries and provide expert advice on Governance matters.
* Support the Monitoring Officer and Deputy Monitoring Officer to fulfil statutory responsibilities.
About you
No two days are the same, and the role offers exposure to a broad range of legal work across council departments. A candidate does not need local government experience but should have a passion for delivering an excellent legal service in a fast‑paced environment and a desire to help shape an exemplar local authority legal service.
