Children's Residential Support Worker - Temp to Perm Opportunity
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team at a Children's Residential Home, offering a temp to perm position for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
* Provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which children/young people can feel secure and free from harm.
* Attend to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home, etc).
* Provide advice, assistance and support on a 1:1 basis to enable young people to address past and present difficulties.
* Provide emotional support at times of difficulty or stress.
* Be ambitious for young people, helping them achieve their goals and optimise their potential.
* Provide support for young people in their education and extracurricular activities; this may include supporting them in the classroom if necessary.
* Keep accurate records and provide written reports on young people for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as directed by the line manager.
* Be actively involved in planning and participating in recreational and social programmes and engage individuals and groups in a constructive, enterprising, and socially extending range of leisure pursuits.
* Empower young people and facilitate their active involvement in the decision making about their lives and future.
* Act as an advocate at meetings where the young person is the subject of discussion.
* Encourage the young person to develop links with the community and attend off-site activities to expand their personal social network.
* Work as part of a team: be aware of the aims and objectives of the home and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve them; attend team/staff meetings and contribute positively; actively contribute to the development of the team.
* Receive and store information to improve communication and be willing to give and receive feedback on performance with colleagues and managers.
* Be aware of childcare plans for all young people and provide support for colleagues by maintaining consistency in the execution of those plans.
Requirements
* Must hold one of the following qualifications:
* Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children's element)
* Level 3 in Residential Childcare
* Full UK driving licence (desired)
* Experience working with children or young people in a residential or similar setting is desirable
* Commitment, resilience, and a genuine desire to support young people
