Reporting to:Procurement ManagerAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experiencedSenior Buyerto join our team, playing a key role in the majorHavant Thicket Reservoirproject. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the procurement team, managing the supply chain, and ensuring all materials for construction projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.This is a hands-on, fast-paced role requiring strong negotiating skills and experience in civil engineering.
Responsibilities
* Procurement Strategy:Provide competitive procurement solutions that demonstrate best value for money.
* Supplier Management:Source, negotiate with, and manage relationships with new and existing suppliers.
* Supply Chain Coordination:Maintain regular communication with internal departments, particularly Contracts and Estimating.
* Material Procurement:Assist Buyers in procuring materials, services, plant, and equipment from procurement schedules.
* Tender Support:Extract global material order requirements from tender information.
* Reporting:Produce cost/value reports and life cycle costs for Senior Management.
* Sustainability:Assist in embedding sustainable procurement principles and practices.
* Site Support:Arrange transfer of materials/plant between sites and head office.
* Leadership:Support the Procurement Manager with team training, development, and deputising in their absence.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Experience:Proven experience in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, preferably within Civil Engineering & Construction.
* Knowledge:Strong understanding of supplier markets, material specifications, and QHSE legislation.
* Systems:Proficiency in IT, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and procurement software (Procore and EVision desirable).
* Negotiation:Proven ability to negotiate best-value contracts.
* Qualifications:HNC educated preferred. Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) desirable.
* Compliance:Knowledge of ISO 9001-2015, 14001-2015, 45001-2018, and FSC/PEFC timber chain of custody.
* Other:Full driving licence required (rural location).
