Controls Engineer
As a Controls Engineer, you will be directly involved in designing and implementing control solutions for world-class automated material handling systems. You will ensure consistent standards and drive continuous improvement within the design team.
You will leverage your expertise in controls engineering to provide software design for PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, following through to testing and commissioning phases while considering the cost, timescale, and project requirements.

Tasks and Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver the assigned project scope and tasks, exceeding safety, quality, on-time delivery, and budget requirements.
* Produce PLC software and visualization systems.
* Emulate control systems in virtual environments and test PLC software.
* Interpret electrical schematics and design input information.
* Carry out controls engineering activities related to project design and implementation.
* Ensure systems are CE Compliant with the Machinery Directive.
* Produce documentation including design calculations, specifications, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications.
* Commission control systems on-site and support system commissioning activities and user training.
* Maintain good relationships with internal and external customers by providing high-quality service.
* Promote continuous improvement in processes to enhance time, cost, quality, and project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience:
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering is desirable; HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering will also be considered.
* Experience designing control systems in Siemens S7 or TIA Portal.
* Proven hands-on experience in industrial automation environments.
* Good understanding of PLC development tools.
* Proficient with industrial networks such as Profinet, Profibus, ASi, EthernetIP, or similar.
* Experience with E-plan is desirable but not essential.
* Good understanding of electrical and electronic manuals and drawings.
* Knowledge of design standards such as the Machinery Directive.
* Understanding of distributed control systems.
* Experience with software testing and emulation.
* Full UK Driving Licence required, as travel up to 60% to customer sites in the UK and EMEA is expected.
