Perioperative Care Support worker (Band 2)

Our operating theatres are recruiting for Band 2 experienced perioperative care support workers. We would like you to join us in delivering the highest standards of care in a well-equipped, safe environment with Our 'Right Care' behaviours of compassion, a commitment to quality of care and working together for patients as a priority. Our specialties include Ophthalmology, General Surgery, ENT, Gynecology, Urology, Maxilla-facial, elective Orthopedics, Acutes & trauma, Obstetrics and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit.

You may already have experience in this role. We require staff to cover a 24 hour service over a 7 day period.


Main duties of the job

To undertake a range of duties including clerical and patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Practitioner ODP, Nurse or a Senior Perioperative Care Assistant.

Theatre Support staff will assist the Registered Practitioners to deliver patient care and prepare the environment in which care is delivered. In pursuing these duties, the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance 'Understanding the new NHS'.

Person Specification


Skills

* Good communication skills, including observation, listening & reaction as required.verbal & IT
* Ability to work as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team
* Skills in Infection Prevention and Control
* Skills in manually handling people


Qualifications

* General education, numerate and literate to Functional skills Level 2, A-C or equivalent GCSE
* The Care Certificate
* QCF Level 2 / 3 Heath Diploma or equivalent


Experience

* Experience of working in a team which can be transferred into the theatre teamwork
* Previous experience of working with the public with transferable skills to work with theatre patients.
* Previous experience of working in the operating theatre


Knowledge

* A Comprehensive understanding of working in the Operating Theatre
* Understanding of the NHS Constitution and its implications
* Knowledge of IT systems, Electronic patient records Trisoft, Health Edge
