The role of the Dispensary Manager will be to ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of the Dispensary and its staff. To provide a responsive and friendly service to patients while maintaining a professional manner at all times. To work as an effective member of the dispensary team and the wider practice team, helping the Partners and staff to provide the highest possible quality of care to patients.

We are a well-respected, patient-centred, dispensing GP practice with an outstanding CQC rating.
Our clinical team comprises 18 GPs, Nurse Prescribers, Nurses, Paramedic, Healthcare Assistants, and Clinical Pharmacists, and we are looking for a Dispensary Manager to join our forward-thinking team.
The Practice participates in medical research projects which are vital in helping to improve clinical care and knowledge. We are also a Postgraduate GP Training practice.
The practice prioritises staff wellbeing and has a dynamic, proactive wellbeing team along with an Employee Assistance Programme.

Job Title: Dispensary Manager
Accountable to: Practice Manager

Main duties and responsibilities:
* Managing the Dispensary Staff
* Completing the month-end processes including sorting prescriptions, checking endorsements, preparing forms, and submitting prescriptions monthly to the Prescription Pricing Authority (PPA)
* Preparing vaccine lists and dealing with prescriptions returned by the PPA
* Ensuring effective management of prescriptions and prescription moneys
* Managing the dosette service, ensuring medication changes are carried out as requested
* Working flexibly to cover team absences
* Managing protocols and preparing lists of PA items from invoices each month
* Monitoring incident and significant event management and recording
* Dealing with and completing complaints following the complaints protocol
* Performance management of staff where necessary
Staff Management
* Supervising daily dispensary operations
* Organising staff rotas and ensuring adequate cover
* Conducting RTW for staff following absences
* Conducting appraisals and catch-ups
* Assisting with staff training and overseeing medication dispensing according to SOPs
* Recruitment assistance and performance assessments
Purchasing and Stock Control
* Managing purchasing, stock control, and wholesaler contracts
* Checking credit notes and chasing outstanding credits
Destruction of Drugs
* Handling returned Controlled Drugs for destruction
* Monthly CD reporting and managing out-of-date drugs
Dispensing
* Adhering to Windrush SOPs
* Dispensing medications according to SOPs
* Annual SOP review
Training
The post-holder must hold a dispensing qualification and undertake ongoing training.
