Overview
You will be a vital member of the MSE team undertaking several roles including the transport of patients, specimens, goods, blood products, medical gases and equipment around the site to facilitate the smooth running of clinical departments and the hospital. The role is physical in nature and includes transporting patients by wheelchair, patient trolley or bed both internally and externally. You will work with patients and need good communication skills. The role requires the ability to respond to emergency calls in a calm and professional manner and may include mortuary duties such as moving bodies from wards to the mortuary in a courteous, sympathetic manner. We work with MSE Health and Care Partnership to deliver high-quality local and specialist services and provide a respectful, supportive environment for staff development and careers.

Responsibilities
* Provide an effective, timely delivery and collection service to support clinical and non-clinical services.
* Help members of the public and transfer patients between locations inside and outside the hospital.
* Move furniture and transport specimens and samples; transfer deceased patients to the Mortuary.
* Attend security and fire shouts as required (full training provided).
* Move gas cylinders and secure the hospital environment.
Qualifications and requirements
* Experience in a service environment and good communication skills; prior hospital portering/security experience is an advantage but not essential as full training and support are provided.
* Ability to respond to emergency calls in a calm, professional manner.
* Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends; both full-time and part-time opportunities available.
* Demonstrated suitability for active, people-facing work and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
