Job Description:
We are seeking an Aspiring Youth Justice Worker for a role in Milton Keynes, focusing on education and training. This position is ideal for Criminology and Psychology graduates interested in working with children aged 7-19 who have experienced significant trauma and face social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
The role emphasizes holistic and restorative practices, fostering empathy, and avoiding punitive measures. A practical trial day will be conducted to assess suitability, depending on your availability to start immediately or if you are completing university.
Your responsibilities include making a positive impact on students' lives, ensuring their safety, and demonstrating the value of education. You will receive extensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA training. The children you will work with have diverse needs, including Autism, OCD, social anxiety, and other developmental disorders.
This role involves physical work, pragmatic approaches, and supporting academic progress within each child's context. You will encounter some anti-social behavior, with full training and support provided by the school. The role also involves introducing therapies and holistic processes, with success measured by even small progress.
The ideal candidate should be prepared to work with children of all ages and cognitive abilities, using positive engagement and alternative approaches when talking therapy is insufficient. Promoting independence and providing objectives, especially for students in assisted living, are key aspects of the role.
If you are passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable children and meet the requirements, this could be a rewarding opportunity to develop your career in youth justice and related fields.
