Job Description
We are seeking an experienced RCVS registered veterinary surgeon to join our professional but friendly and fun team in Chelmsford. This is a chance to work within a great environment for someone looking to put client and patient care at the forefront each day. Our experienced Practice Owner is keen to offer support to all of the team alongside promoting clinical freedom and the opportunity to work up cases to a high standard.
Our spacious surgery based in the Pets at Home store is purpose built to industry leading standards and has modern equipment including brand new ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental x-ray and a new multi-parameter. We have 3 consultation rooms, a dedicated operating theatre, lab area, prep room and separate dog, cat and isolation wards
We are proud to have an ethos of teaching and learning and we are engaged with the Vets For Pets Graduate programme. We have a VetGDP advisor and we welcome EMS students regularly. We are also a veterinary nurse training practice and have our RCVS practice standards accreditation.
The current team consists of 7 Vets (one on maternity leave), 8 RVNs, 4 SVNs, 1VCA, 5 receptionists and a practice manager. We are hugely supportive of each other and take pride in the strong relationships we have built, and continue to build, both as a team and with our large and loyal client base. We have a wide range of experience within the team, from 40 years qualified to 1 year qualified! We enjoy helping each other with cases and actively encourage clinical discussions. We are proud to have a long-standing team and two vets have been here for over 15 years. We are only recruiting because one of our lovely vets is emigrating to Australia soon.
We are ideally looking for an experienced vet with a minimum 2 years' experience and a medicine focused or predominantly consult vet would be desirable to compliment the current team's areas of interests and expertise. We are a very busy first-opinion practice and we strive to manage our cases in-house where possible to provide a local, skilled and cost-effective service for our patients. We benefit from working with a peripatetic orthopaedic surgeon and an internal medicine specialist to bridge the gap between referral and first opinion practice where appropriate.
The role is part-time working between 16 and 20 hours per week plus a share in the weekend rota. The current weekend commitment is 1 full weekend and 1 Saturday in a 6-week period. We are open 9am - 6pm on Saturdays and 10.30am - 4pm on Sundays.
There are no OOH duties or on call with this role, allowing you to enjoy an excellent work/life balance. This is a part time role, and we are happy to be flexible with hours and shift patterns but engagement in the weekend/bank holiday rota will be required.
In return, we can offer:
* Excellent career opportunities and development due to our varied case load
* Competitive salary (£40,000 - £70,000 FTE & dependent on experience)
* Annual leave allowance of 28 days including bank holidays rising to 33 days including bank holidays after 2 full years of service
* Contributory pension scheme
* Generous CPD allowance (5 days/£1500 per year FTE)
* Paid memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
* Exclusive company discounts and rewards including up to 30% off pets at home
We are an Equal Opportunities Employer
