Job Overview
As a Warehouse Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of the warehouse operations. Your primary responsibilities will include receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse. You will work closely with other warehouse staff, supervisors, and sometimes directly with customers to ensure accurate and timely handling of goods.
Responsibilities
Receiving and Inspecting Shipments
* Receive incoming shipments and verify their accuracy against purchase orders or shipping manifests.
* Inspect received goods for damages and report discrepancies or damages to the supervisor.
Inventory Management
* Organise and maintain inventory by accurately recording and updating stock levels.
* Conduct regular cycle counts and assist in the periodic inventory reconciliation process.
Storage and Organisation
* Safely store products in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper organisation for efficient retrieval.
* Maintain high standard of housekeeping & cleanliness to ensure a safe working environment.
Picking and Packing
* Fulfil orders by picking the correct items from inventory and packing them securely for shipping.
* Prepare shipping labels and ensure that all necessary documentation is complete.
Loading and Unloading
* Assist in loading and unloading trucks and containers, ensuring the safe handling of products.
* Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment as required.
Quality Control
* Perform quality checks on products to ensure they meet established standards.
* Report any issues with product quality or packaging to shift supervisor or manager.
Communication
* Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure a smooth flow of information and materials.
* Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
Health and Safety
* Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
* Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Documentation
* Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and other relevant documentation.
* Complete paperwork associated with shipping and receiving processes.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is essential.
* A valid and up to date FLT licence is required, preferably REACH FLT (if you are a Counterbalance certificate holder, training can be provided).
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Good organisational and time-management skills.
* Effective communication and excellent teamwork abilities.
* Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
* Full driving licence with acceptable DVLA licence check (no more than 3 points and no drug, alcohol or dangerous driving convictions).
Working hours:
* 37.5 hrs per week
* Monday to Friday (no weekends)
* Shifts 7.00am – 3.00pm / 10.00am – 6.00pm
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £25,770.00 per year
