Overview
This post is a full time, fixed term appointment at SpR level in Luminal Gastroenterology and General Medicine at the Bristol Royal infirmary. The post is initially for a 12–14 month period, with the option to extend if appropriate and assuming progress is satisfactory.
Responsibilities
* Join a dynamic gastroenterology team, working clinically to support both inpatient and outpatient work.
* Be part of the general medical on-call rota at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, leading the acute medical take and the out of hours medical inpatient team as medical registrar.
* Support a regular endoscopy list with additional endoscopy experience available via the daily acute GI bleed lists and adhoc inpatient lists.
* Aim to provide 2 outpatient clinics per week, seeing both new and follow-up patients (inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition and general luminal gastroenterology), supervised by a consultant from the gastrointestinal team.
* Remain involved in luminal research via established research links with the University of Bristol; protected research time will be provided.
* Exposure to the regional intestinal failure service, experience in working in complex inflammatory bowel disease and in luminal research.
Research and training
Protected research time will be provided. There are several research themes within the department and the successful applicant will be able to discuss which project most suits their needs and interests.
