Learning and Achievement Project Manager - Education
Location: Hybrid working - N1 1XR
Contract: 3 months initially - potential to extend
Salary: £34 UMB per hour - (£25.50 PAYE)
Hours: 35 per week between the hours of 9am and 5pm
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Learning and Achievement Project Manager to Join the London borough of Islington's education team and lead the delivery of key strategic education initiatives that support schools and drive improved outcomes across the local authority.
This pivotal role will focus on the successful delivery of complex projects, including the transition of schools’ payroll systems, ensuring all activity is delivered on time, within budget, and aligned to the operational needs of schools. Working in a fast-paced and evolving environment, the postholder will play a central role in coordinating stakeholders, managing resources, and overcoming barriers to progress.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver strategic education and learning initiatives, from project initiation through to implementation and evaluation
Manage the transition of schools’ payroll systems, ensuring minimal disruption and effective change management
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with agreed outcomes and quality standards
Work collaboratively across local government, education providers, and external partners to align priorities and secure buy-in
Engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, providing clear communication and managing expectations
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, resolving barriers to delivery proactively
Lead and support project teams, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Use data and performance information effectively to inform decision-making, monitor progress, and drive service improvement
Contribute to organisational change by embedding sustainable, impactful solutions for schools and the councilAbout You:
You will be a confident and skilled project manager with experience delivering complex programmes in education, local government, or a similarly complex public-sector environment. You will bring strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to balance strategic objectives with the practical needs of schools.
You will ideally have:
Proven experience of managing and delivering complex projects or programmes
Strong understanding of project management methodologies and governance
Experience working with multiple stakeholders across organisational boundaries
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to use data and insight to support decision-making and service improvement
