Northumberland National Park Authority is looking for a passionate and strategic thinker to take the lead on major projects that will shape the future of our unique and treasured landscape.
As our new Strategic Projects Manager, you’ll work at the heart of the Park’s transformation, helping us tackle the most critical challenges of our time, from nature recovery and climate action to community development and public engagement. You’ll collaborate with partners, staff, and stakeholders to develop, fund, and deliver programmes that align with our strategic goals and bring long-term benefit to our environment and communities.
What You’ll Do:
1. Identify, develop, and manage key strategic projects aligned with our Business and Management Plan.
2. Lead the creation of robust business cases, project appraisals, and funding bids.
3. Provide leadership to cross-functional teams and ensure successful delivery of project outcomes.
4. Act as Project Manager for major initiatives, ensuring timely, efficient, and cost-effective implementation.
5. Work with internal teams to embed strong project management processes across the Authority.
6. Drive collaboration with partners and funders to bring investment-ready projects to life.
7. Contribute to reporting, communications, and evaluation efforts that showcase our impact.
You will need:
Essential:
8. A degree or significant experience in project and programme management.
9. Proven ability to deliver complex public-facing projects with multiple stakeholders.
10. Strong understanding of policy, funding landscapes, and performance management.
11. Excellent strategic planning, communication, and leadership skills.
12. Experience in budget management and securing external funding.
13. A collaborative, diplomatic, and proactive approach with strong interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
14. Knowledge of National Park purposes and statutory frameworks.
15. Project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, APM).
