An exciting opportunity has arose for a 10 month secondment opportunity to join the Cancer Performance Team as MDT Team Leader and PTL Manager.
We are looking for an efficient, flexible and organised person to join the Cancer team to help manage the team of MDT Co-ordinators and PTL Trackers whilst also co-ordinating and tracking a tumour site of your own.
The Trust is responsible for tracking hundreds of cancer patient pathways at any time. This requires diligence and patience and good communication skills to expedite diagnostic tests, procedures & admissions, both within the Trust and with other hospitals.
The successful candidate must have excellent attention to detail and good organisation skills. They must be confident in speaking with staff members from a range of multi-disciplinary teams and support the coordination of meetings including live typing of clinical discussions.
NHS experience is desirable, whilst strong IT skills are vital, as well as being able to work both independently and as part of a team.
(Training specific to the post will be organised on appointment).
Main duties of the job
1. Manages: Cancer MDT Coordinator/tracking staff, both sites (SMH & WH)
2. Ensure the processes involved in the collection of all cancer data are adhered to, the national cancer waiting times targets, Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) in conjunction with the Lead FDS facilitator.
3. Ensure that staff track patients & expedite pathways where needed.
4. Ensure that ad-hoc/monthly data requests are provided to TVCA/NCRAS/PHE in conjunction the Informatics team.
5. Ensure MDT meetings/huddles are arranged, supported and presented in a professional manner.
6. Ensure weekly PTL meeting is prepared, presented and actioned in a timely manner, with escalation highlighted, as necessary.
7. Liaise with a variety of different Stakeholders and colleagues, non-clinical and clinical.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
8. Educated to GCSE standard including English and maths / computer studies or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
9. Knowledge of medical terminology is a distinct advantage
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

10. Ability to travel between Trust hospitals and other Trusts within the Thames Valley Cancer Network to attend Network and MDT meetings and training.
EXPERIENCE

11. Experience of managing a discrete body of work to ensure timescales are met.
12. Office experience giving a good grounding and background to the tasks.
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

13. Good keyboard skills are required to ensure provision of an efficient and accurate service to multi disciplinary staff.
14. Clear and concise written and verbal communication to ensure accuracy of information being required or transferred
15. Awareness of providing an efficient and confidential service to multidisciplinary teams.
16. Collation and provision of accurate and appropriate clinical and other information for multidisciplinary teams so that clinical decisions can be made for benefit of patients.
17. Careful attention to detail to ensure accuracy when retrieving or entering data on cancer database or Trust IT system.
18. Ability to work under pressure, prioritise, respond to requests from several nurse teams at any one time and meet timescales.
19. Able to work on own initiative and as part of team to ensure cross cover and all aspects of work are covered.
20. Liaise effectively with Managers and clinicians re cancer patients
21. Excellent and compassionate communication skills
22. Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

23. Knowledge of Trust systems for the day to day administration.
