Appointment description
The Ministry of Defence is looking to appoint up to four medical members to IMEG with experience in one or more of the following areas: occupational health, neurology, management of chronic pain, primary care or women’s health issues in the military. The person will be independent of the Ministry of Defence and operational activities, consideration will be given to those who have previously worked for the MOD or have been a member of the Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defence is looking to improve representation by people with protected characteristics, to better reflect our diverse population of serving men and women.
The overall role and responsibilities of the member are to:
1. Engage fully in collective consideration of topics raised for investigation, taking account of the full range of the evidence base in science and medicine, also taking into account information issued by the sponsor department or the responsible Minister.
2. Ensure that the Code of Practice on access to Government Information is adhered to.
3. Ensure that the Group does not exceed its powers or functions.
