Project Manager – Construction & Facilities (Site-Based)

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of new-build construction projects while supporting live operational hangar environments in Teesside.
This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring daily engagement with the main contractor throughout construction. You will act as the on-site owner’s representative, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget while maintaining full operational continuity in an active aviation environment.
This role combines construction leadership with operational oversight and stakeholder management.
The Role
Construction Project Delivery
* Issue RFQs, evaluate proposals and recommend contractor/supplier selection.
* Act as the primary on-site contact for main contractors and subcontractors.
* Attend daily site meetings and manage progress against milestones.
* Track risks, dependencies and programme delivery, escalating issues with mitigation plans.
* Monitor project budgets, forecast spend and flag variances early.
* Provide structured reporting to internal stakeholders (progress, cost, risk).
* Ensure delivery aligns with drawings, specifications, approved budgets and quality standards.
* Manage airport authority and local council planning conditions and compliance requirements.
Compliance, Safety & Operational Continuity
* Ensure full compliance with UK building regulations, HSE requirements and aviation standards.
* Maintain safe separation between construction activities and live operations.
* Support audits, inspections and regulatory reviews.
* Ensure construction activity does not disrupt ongoing client operations.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
* Liaise with internal operations teams to align works with client schedules.
* Act as escalation point for site-related issues affecting service delivery.
* Maintain a professional, well-managed site environment.
* Develop strong working relationships with the landlord, Teesside International Airport and the Tees Valley Combined Authority.
Facilities & Hangar Support
* Support the Facilities Manager in maintaining operational hangars and infrastructure.
* Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities.
* Assist in tracking snagging, defects and remedial works.
* Ensure facilities remain fully operational for aircraft disassembly and client activity.
About You
Experience
* Proven experience in construction, site or facilities management within industrial or operational environments.
* Strong track record managing contractors and project timelines.
* Experience managing live sites with ongoing operations is essential.
* Aviation, hangar, logistics or heavy industrial experience highly desirable.
Skills
* Strong organisational and planning capability.
* Confident communicator across operational teams and senior stakeholders.
* Practical, hands-on and solution focused.
* High attention to safety, compliance and quality standards.
Qualifications
* HNC/HND, degree or equivalent experience in construction or facilities.
* SMSTS or SSSTS preferred.
* Strong understanding of UK H&S and building compliance requirements.
* Able to work on site in Teesside daily.
