Job title: EHS Coordinator Reports to: Engineering Manager Location: Trafford Park, Manchester Proactive Personnel are currently recruiting for an EHS Coordinator for a very successful global manufacturing company. Our client are one of the world’s leading producers of food colouring and flavourings with multiple sites across the globe. This role is a permanent position based at their Trafford Park site, Manchester. Main Purpose of the role: The primary role of the EHS Coordinator is to make sure the operation of the Manchester plant is in full compliance with local environmental, safety and occupation health laws and regulations. This will include developing, monitoring, and maintaining effective guidance for the individual site management systems, and developing and conducting effective training. This is an autonomous role, requiring both strategic vision and the ability to engage across all levels of the organisation, working closely with both the senior leadership team and also operational staff and management to continue to develop a positive and engaged environmental, health and safety culture. Responsibilities · Liaise with Manchester team members to identify and deliver EHS and CSR Strategy for site. · Feedback findings and requirements to the Plant Manager & Engineering Manager on effectiveness and necessary resources. · Provide a strategic direction and focal point for Environmental, Health and Safety Management at the Manchester site. · Promote good health and safety practices throughout the business, lead culture change regarding EHS engagement and participation. · Administer electronic auditing and incident reporting system. · Develop networking contacts and continuously identify technical and software best practice that can be used throughout the business · Develop company minimum standards for site hazards including, but not limited to: hazardous chemicals; emissions; effluent and waste management, risk assessment; contractor and supplier management; work permits; forklift standards; machinery safety; accident investigation and reporting, analysis and tracking; etc. o Develop, implement, and maintain company Environmental, Health and Safety standard policies and procedures, work instructions and regulations, in line with best practice and ensure these are met o Devise, develop and maintain effective risk management strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies o Provide independent professional advice and technical information where appropriate to enable the sites to discharge their statutory, common law, and moral obligations, keeping staff and Managers abreast of changes in EHS Legislation and Codes of Practice. · Ensure the site follows and complies with EHS management system policy, procedures, work instruction and applicable regulations. · Help obtain and maintain ISO14001:2015, ISO45001:2018, and SMETA accreditation for the site · Training o Identify training needs and develop and deliver (or if necessary, source) Environmental, Health and Safety training for the site · Auditing o Monitor legal compliance of the site o Participate in environmental and health and safety audits and communicate with external authorities where needed o Arrange and conduct internal EHS audits and provide advice and support to managers where corrective actions are required. o Follow up on remedial actions and ensure effectiveness · Incidents o For the site: § Compile accident statistics, analyse trends and propose remedial action where necessary § Follow up on remedial action and ensure it is implemented § Be available to assist in investigation and ensure that all accidents and near-misses are investigated, and a report of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action are prepared. § Where necessary prepare reports to the enforcing authority and as required by the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations. · Continuous Improvement o Identify opportunities for continuous environmental, health and safety improvement and implement programmes to deliver these · Respond to day-to-day health and safety issues as required. · Other duties as required The ideal candidate will have: · 2 years’ experience in chemical/food industry. · Knowledge of ISO14001:2015 and ISO45001:2018 management system standards · Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively. · Communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other colleagues. · High flexibility to deal with multiple tasks and/or changing tasks · Problem solving skills Benefits: Salary up to £30,000 26 days holiday plus Bank Holidays Private Medical Private Dental plan Life insurance Private pension Costco Membership Onsite subsidised canteen Plus many more great benefits!
