SHEQ Advisor (Utilities)
Location: Birmingham
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Join a forward-thinking civil engineering and utilities specialist, committed to delivering safe, sustainable, and high-quality infrastructure projects.
We’re looking for a SHEQ Advisor to drive health, safety, environmental, and quality excellence across our live utility projects. You’ll work closely with operational teams, ensuring compliance with legislation, NERS accreditation, and industry best practice — while fostering a positive safety culture and supporting continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do:
Lead SHEQ planning, audits, inspections, and performance monitoring across multiple sites.
Prepare and review CPPs, RAMS, Risk Registers, and SHEQ documentation.
Investigate incidents and ensure robust root cause analysis and preventive measures.
Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and SHEQ training to teams and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with CDM, NRSWA, HSG47, and client-specific safety standards.
Engage with operational teams in live substation environments.
What You’ll Bring:
3+ years in a SHEQ role within utilities.
Experience in live substation environments and NERS projects.
NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum), EUSR/CSCS, NRSWA, knowledge of HSG47.
Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable: NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma, IOSH membership, First Aid, CDM experience, National Grid/DNO competencies.
