You will be joining a privately-owned and respected civil engineering contractor based in Derby known for delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors. With a strongmitment to safety, quality and innovation, they are expanding their pre-contract team and seeking a skilled Estimator to play a key role in their tendering and budgeting processes. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking contractor where your expertise will directly influence project success and business growth.
This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Derby office.
Your new role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing and submittingpetitive tenders and budgets, ensuring accuracy andpliance withpany standards and client requirements. You’ll work closely with internal departments, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather essential data, assess project costs, and support the delivery of high-quality bids. You’ll also supervise junior staff and contribute to their development.
Key responsibilities include:
 1. Preparing detailed tenders and estimates in line withpany procedures.
 2. Conducting site visits to assess conditions and gather relevant data.
 3. Liaising with clients, designers, and internal teams to understand project requirements.
 4. Obtaining quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
 5. Ensuringpliance with health & safety legislation andpany policies.
 6. Supporting contract handovers and maintaining quality control throughout the estimating process.
 7. Promoting positive client relationships and representing thepany professionally.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will bring:
 8. Proven experience in estimating within the civil engineering industry
 9. Sound understanding of tendering processes and cost analysis
 10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
 11. Excellentmunication and interpersonal skills
 12. A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
 13. Full UK driving licence.
