Knowledge Mobilisation Programme Manager (HINWC and NWC ARC)

An exciting new post that will bridge the gap between applied health research and real-world practice across the North West Coast health and care system. Working jointly across Health Innovation North West Coast and the NIHR Applied Research Collaborative, the postholder will lead efforts to translate research evidence into actionable improvements in patient care, service delivery, and population health outcomes.

The role focuses on enabling the adoption, spread, and scaling of evidence-based innovation across NHS organisations, local authorities, and community settings. The postholder will work closely with researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and system partners to ensure research is both informed by local needs and effectively implemented in practice.

Main duties of the job

Knowledge mobilisation is key in this role. Translating complex research into accessible formats, supporting implementation planning, and ensuring evidence is used to inform decision-making. The postholder will also contribute to innovation scaling by identifying promising interventions, assessing their readiness for wider rollout, and supporting their spread regionally and nationally.

The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and partnership‑building skills, fostering collaboration across health, care, academic, and voluntary sectors. The postholder will lead workshops, support co‑production approaches, and align research and innovation activity with system priorities.

In addition, the role includes programme management responsibilities such as overseeing project delivery, managing risks and resources, monitoring impact, and reporting to senior leadership and funders. The postholder will contribute to capacity building through training, mentoring, and development of knowledge mobilisation resources.

Job responsibilities

The postholder will play a central role in delivering high‑quality knowledge mobilisation activity by supporting implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement across programmes. Working with internal teams and research leads, they will synthesise and critically appraise evidence from multiple sources, translating complex findings into accessible, user‑friendly formats such as briefings, toolkits and reports. They will promote evidence‑informed decision‑making and apply structured approaches, including recognised knowledge mobilisation frameworks, such as the Knowledge to Action framework, to maximise impact.

A key focus will be supporting the identification and assessment of interventions suitable for wider adoption, including evaluating readiness, barriers and enabling factors. The postholder will apply systematic tools to assess scalability and contribute to planning effective implementation pathways.

The postholder will contribute to developing system‑wide capability by supporting training, internships and fellowship activity, as well as producing rapid evidence summaries and other practical resources to enhance knowledge mobilisation practice.

Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to produce clear, engaging content for non‑academic audiences and adapt messaging for different stakeholders. The role includes developing public‑facing materials such as case studies and reports, delivering presentations, and working with communications teams on campaigns and stakeholder engagement.
